This week, Microsoft has released a patch for its Windows 2000 operating system. The patch eliminates a vulnerability that could allow a user to cause a DoS on a Windows 2000 computer by sending a malformed RPC packet to a server, causing the service to fail. Novell has released an update to its Novell Directory Services. The update, recommended by Novell for NetWare 4.11 and 4.2 servers, includes fixes to the counter syntax, obituary issues with OLD_RDN and NEW_RDN, containment issues for mixed environments, and the handling of longer keys.
