As head of IT at fashion retailer LK Bennett, David van Eck oversees IT operations in the company's London office and stores throughout the UK, France and Ireland as well as its newest US store in Chicago. The retailer operates more than 120 stores across six countries.

van Eck joined LK Bennett in 2007, starting as IT technical manager before being promoted to head of IT at the start of 2010. He joined the company at a time of major change in the way assessment is delivered. His main challenge is to use the latest technology to enhance IT systems within the business to give LK Bennett a competitive advantage within the industry - shifting the focus of the IT team to promote business value above all else.

van Eck has also led a project to consolidate the company's IT infrastructures to a single system, replacing and revamping existing infrastructures and reducing support costs by 30 per cent. He has also been responsible for creating a scalable global support platform for the business.

Prior to joining LK Bennett, van Eck was IT manager for a London media marketing company. He spent the early part of his career supporting numerous departments within the banking industry in South Africa.

In his spare time, van Eck enjoys spending time with his family, sport and travel. He is also actively involved with the organisation and promotion of LK Bennett's social and charity committee.
