Nic Bellenberg is IT director of magazine publisher Hachette Filipacchi UK - whose magazine brands include Elle and Red. The publisher is in the process of being acquired by the Hearst Corporation of the US, with brands including Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire.

A communications graduate of Coventry University, Bellenberg has worked in the creative industries since leaving education, including a four-year stint as a writer and editor before the lure of technology proved too strong.

Intent on helping the magazine industry transcend typewriters and associated "Victorian working practices", Bellenberg signed up to IT and project-managed the first digital picture library to be built in UK magazines.

He has been head of IT at Hachette Filipacchi for six years, joining from publisher Haymarket, where he spent another six years as IT director. He has also worked at publisher IPC, on both the editorial and technical fronts. He describes himself as "always game for something new to add to the mix" and as passionate about his team adding value as he is about their getting things right.

Outside work, Bellenberg is a busy husband, father, handyman and car mechanic. He dreams of the day when the family classic Porsche can be joined by a newer, faster model.
