CIO 50 2012: Dan Olley

CIO 50

Job Title : Global CIO

Organization : Reed Business Information

During Dan Olley's time as Reed Business Information's global CIO, he has turned what was once a fragmented technology group into a consolidated global division - improving cost-efficiency and helping the organisation grow its online data and product revenues.

He took up the role in 2009. Before that, he was the company's IT director and earlier its technology director for its web and product development areas.

Olley is a fan of the cloud and at RBI has led adoption of software-as-a-service technologies from Salesforce and Zuora, along with lower-end infrastructure and platform technologies from Amazon Web Services.

He has made RBI not only a consumer of cloud, but also a vendor of it as well, via its LiveFlo, CMax and xPertHR software-as-a-service products.

Before joining RBI, he held technology and product-development roles with GM Financial, Wunderman Cato Johnson, and IBM.
