Security companies are prolific when generating marketing material. IT magazines are full of flashy ads, featuring shady characters and promising that their product is the answer to your security needs.
But it isn’t always clear what their product is, much less whether it’s a reasonable solution for a small to midsize company.
We recently surveyed various security firms, asking them to give a brief description of their security products aimed at small and midsize companies. We also asked them to describe their pricing options, provide an e-mail contact, and give a brief description of their company.
Seven companies responded:
- Aladdin Knowledge Systems, a software vendor
- Computer Associates, a software vendor
- Counterpane, managed security
- KPMG Consulting, LLC, security consultants
- PentaSafe Inc., a software vendor
- Trend Micro Inc.
- TruSecure, security consultants
In addition, we compiled information from the Web sites of two major security vendors who were asked to respond, but who had not yet answered our request at publication:
- RSA, a software vendor
- Symantec, a software vendor
