While your odds are substantially better at winning a TechRepublic book or CD in our Peer Directory listing contest than if you plunked down $1 for a multimillion lottery jackpot, the principle is the same: you have to play to win.
Earlier this month, we held our second monthly Peer Directory contest in which we invited TechRepublic members to update their Peer Directory listings for a chance at winning a TechRepublic book or CD of their choice.
Out of the more than 200 members who e-mailed their information, telling us what they had updated in their Peer Directory listing, we selected at random Gabriel Ness, a network support worker for RealtyAssist.com, in Carlsbad, CA.
Gabriel came across TechRepublic when he was researching an issue on CNET and found a link to our site. He landed in our Technical Q&A section, and registered. Since then, he's visited the site almost every day looking for and finding answers to his technical problems.
As our October winner, Gabriel selected the TechRepublic CD Fast Track: Microsoft SQL Server 7.0/2000.
"Tech Republic is just about one of my favorite resources available on the net," he said. "I look forward to signing in every day to view the newest content available."
If you haven't updated your Peer Directory listing or if you have as part of the past two Peer Directory contests, you'll have another chance to submit your entry next week. From Nov. 3 until midnight on Nov. 7, you can update your listing, and then send us an e-mail telling us what information you've added. We'll select a new winner during the week of Nov. 13.
