Tech Tip: Move Palm Desktop addresses to Outlook

If you have Palm PDA users in the organization who are migrating to Outlook, you can help those users move their contact addresses from their Palm Desktop applications to Outlook. Exporting the addresses to Outlook enables them to use those addresses to compose messages, initiate phone calls, and send faxes from Outlook to those contacts.

Follow these steps to copy addresses from Palm Desktop to Outlook:

  1. Open Palm Desktop, click Addresses, and go to File | Export.
  2. Type a name for the file, select Comma Separated Values from the Export Type list, select All for the Range option, and click Export.
  3. In Excel, open the CSV file you created in Step 2. Add the column headings shown below, and save the file.

  • Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) from the list, and click Next.
  • Click Browse to select the CSV file, and click Next.
  • Select the Contacts folder (or another contact-item folder), click Next, and click Finish.
  • After the contacts are added to the user's Contacts folder, the user can use them as they would any contact created in Outlook and add or remove information from each contact as needed.
