Poll: Will Windows 8 make an impact in tablets?

Takeaway: Information about Windows 8 RT leads one developer to think there’s little reason for IT departments to favor Windows 8 tablets over iPads and Android devices. Do you agree?

One of the big promises with Windows 8 is ARM support. But as we’ve learned, even existing .NET applications will not run under Windows 8 RT (the name of the ARM version), only Metro/WinRT applications will. Even more puzzling is that Windows 8 RT will not be able to join Active Directory domains, meaning that there’s little reason for corporate IT departments to favor them over iPads and Android devices. There is, of course, the prospect of x64 Windows 8 tablets and similar devices.

Will Windows 8 be able to make a dent in the iPad’s market dominance? Answer the poll question to let us know your thoughts.
