Apple in the past has stated that Java will be a depreciated technology and they will only continue to maintain it through the standard support cycle of the product.
The update, according to the Apple Knowledge Base article, delivers improved compatibility, security, and reliability. Java for Lion has been updated to Java SE 6 to version 1.6.0_29 and weighs in at 75.45 MB. To get the new update, run Software Update from System Preferences or click on the Apple icon and select Software Update from the drop-down.
Oracle has not announced a successor to Apple's solution for Java. What I'd like know from those of you who use Java is how do you plan to move forward in the future? How will it impact your business? How many of you rely on Java in your environments and how are you using Java today on the Mac?
