Welcome to the Asian Technology blog

The Asian Technology blog will keep you up to date on new innovations and tech news originating from Asia.

Tech innovation can originate anywhere in the world, with the Internet significantly lowering barriers to the spread of great ideas and products. Indeed, many gadgets and IT hardware are designed and manufactured in Asian countries such as China, South Korea and Japan.

With this in mind, we are launching the Asian Technology blog to keep TechRepublic readers posted on the latest developments on the Asian tech scene. We will endeavor to attend trade shows and connect with these companies to bring new technologies and ideas to your attention, with a special emphasis on business-centric technologies that may help your organization.

For a start, we want to focus on the developments on Asian technological giants such as Sony, Samsung and Lenovo - well-known brands that you are no doubt already familiar with. Moreover, we will also be on the lookout for tech companies that may be less visible, but which are already making waves in their respective niches.

Finally, while the lion's share of new tech products is unveiled in the United States, many others are actually released first in Asia - with some literally months ahead of U.S. launch dates. Examples of these include the Galaxy Note, Nokia Lumia and the second generation Samsung Series 9 laptop. To give you advance notification of things coming up on the horizon, we will bring them to your attention as well.

I imagine that brands like Sony and Samsung have become so Internationalized that we don't consciously think of them from being Asia any more. They are though, and it does influence how they do certain things, such as manufacturing of certain parts in their home country, as well as the release schedules of their products - products which we hope to bring to your attention here. :)
