One of the most interesting talks at this year’s Australian Tech.Ed event was the Mass Mobile Experiment. The platform’s Pong implementation was used to entertain attendees before the conference’s keynote.

The creators of the project are Simon Raik-Allen and Aidan Casey. During the day, both are employed by MYOB, where Raik-Allen is the chief technology officer and Casey is a technical architect — but late at night, after the kids are put to bed, they turn into Node.js and JavaScript guns.

In this episode of The Upside, we speak to Raik-Allen and Casey about the Mass Mobile Experiment, their thoughts on Microsoft’s new TypeScript language, and why a CTO would bother checking out Node.js.

Running Time: 22 minutes, 17 seconds.

Chris Duckett attended Tech.Ed as a guest of Microsoft.
