Tell your boss how you really feel

Would you like to let off a little steam and tell your boss exactly how you feel? Instead of doing something you could lose your job over, why don't you let it off your chest here?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could tell your boss just what you think of him or her without fear of retribution? I'm not sure that is humanly possible in reality, but why don't you say it here? That's right--let's hear what you would say to your boss if you could. (Note: If your membership ID is identifiable with your company, you might not want to partake in this exercise.)

For example: "I could use more appreciation around here. The only time I even hear your voice is when you come by to tell me about something I've done that you're not pleased with."

or

"I really can't stand it that you are constantly getting credit for what our department does despite the fact that you are the most technology-impaired person I've ever met."

So let's do this. Add your comment below.

I done that, with open heart. With good intention to improve the department working spirit. But .after a week I been fired (with pay). With a reason i try to create a havoc in the department. Almost 2 month's I could not find any job yet. Moral of the story, if you do not like your Boss. Just do your work and try to find a new place.

I was floored when you told me in my last review that you had no idea what I did as a Network Administrator. How on earth did you ever become my boss? You were quick to offer criticisms and advice as to how I can improve my performance, but after your first statement, I stopped listening. AV

What I would tell the KMan - MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL RELATIONSHIP really does mean just that! I don't mind "assisting" you in being a better manager but I would love for to "assist" me in being a better assistant!

Don't make promises you can't/won't keep. Stop being a hypocrite. Stop basing your decisions on guesses or rumors. Ask questions. Get facts. Stop thinking you are me. You're not. Let me do the job you hired me for, rather than having to sort out your trash designs and work. Thanks.

Dear Boss- First, I really like you. However, now that you've dumped everything but the ERP system onto my shoulders, please stand aside and let me do what needs to be done without the pretense that you are managing me. And btw, since you make twice what I do, How about a real raise for me next time? :) P.S. to Toni- As a manager myself, this rant list is going to be helpful in identifying what my subordinates might be needing from me!

Since my former background is Military lets try: - His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of curiosity. - I would not breed from this Officer. - This Officer is really not so much of a has-been, but more of a definitely won't-be. - When she opens her mouth, it seems that this is only to change whichever foot was previously in there. - He has carried out each and every one of his duties to his entire satisfaction. - He would be out of his depth in a car park puddle. - Technically sound, but socially impossible. - This Manager reminds me very much of a gyroscope - always spinning around at a frantic pace, but not really going anywhere. - This manager has delusions of adequacy. - When he joined my ship, this Officer was something of a granny; since then he has aged considerably. - Since my last report he has reached rock bottom, and has started to dig. - Sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them. - He has the wisdom of youth, and the energy of old age. - This manager should go far - and the sooner he starts, the better. - This man is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot. - Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap.

I have three bosses: Number 1: Last february I told you my Hard Disc was full and that I was having to scratch about for space. I am running W7 from a 20Gb F: drive because the XP on this system is clogging up my C: drive (you know, the 40Gb one). Last February you said you would sort me a proper hard disc so I can rebuild my system. It's nearly July and where is it? Oh of course, you'd need to spend some money. Forgot. Sorry. BTW, remember we said we needed CD's and DVD's .... well, we still do.... Number 2: I hate 'yes' men. You will find the supporting documentation for my Annual Review is quite sparse from now on. For five years I have innovated, excelled, worked on high profile projects and made you look good, but 'satisfactory' is not just reward. From now on, I just stick to the contract. Screw you. Number 3: It's nice being 'in charge' isn't it? It's also amazing how becoming Team Leader alters the way you think. Is that a Hitler moustache you're failing to grow properly? If you try to tell me how to do my job once more, you'll be wearing it. We were workmates and I had a lot of respect for you. But now I think you're an idiot. Oh - and so does everyone else. I suppose you know (obscured) has so much time off because you wont let up on him? Moron.

Listen, you really have no clue or desire to have on-going training with your career, so why don't you just resign and let me take over. As I "want' to stay current in my field and have a strong drive to be in this career. Further, you are lazy and the job title has gotten to your head, it's time for you to leave. Thank you for teaching me absolutely nothing and have a nice retirement. There, I said it.

Man where to begin... Dude your tech skills are wack I thought that your knowledge stopped at windows NT but I come to find out your background isn't even in IT your in Aero Space. No wonder why your questions are so ass backwards and no one knows what you are asking. I mean gee try to learn the lingual at least. Besides stating the obvious back to me in a form of a question regarding the answer I gave you with "well why didnt we do that in the first place" (stated obvious after the the issue was fixed) and saying something stupid like how can we prevent errors in the OS or how can we prevent corruption in and OS which is the dumbest question on earth because you can't hence why the made ECC dumb ass. Oh and you micromanaging jerk using my knowledge to gain perspective on your career here is like plagiarism stealing my ideas and pawning them off as your own trying to make your self seem more important than you are. Your garbage son! Everyone here dislikes you and that includes the other managers . And dude how can you talk down to my users I say mine because you don't support any of them I do, they call me about issues on your Access Programs that are poorly made instead of asking the person who made it because your a D*#K to everyone here. You talk down to them like a bad child and yet who would talk to a child like that even, when you don't even know what your doing at least my users have a clue they don't ask you for support because they all know you have nothing to offer in the form of support for anything. Thank god we are moving to Oracle because the EPR system you have this place running on for the past 25 years is shit just like your access programs and thats the only reason why you still have a job is only you can decipher the Frankenstein monster you created because if it were me I would trash it all and start over because what you did to this company should be criminal. Once we get Oracle your services should be complete and you will be let go because corporate already has Access data base designers and there are no other plants in this corporation who have their own IT manager. So, on that note I hope they let you go or I leave which I would feel bad because you will have to support my users and thats a crime in its self hence the one who wants a trouble ticket for every reboot. I hope we get oracle sooner than planned because I hope your access data base burns in a firey flame of crash and failure because then they will know how you learned Access from the dummies guide I saw on your desk next to the book called "Fixing Access Annoyances" what a nub. And the company had the nerve to send you to the corporate IT summit what a slap in the face yeah lets send the old tech who don't know shit instead of the person who does. I wonder if you blew the boss for that one because corporate specifically requested me to go not you because even the IT at corporate don't like you and we only been part of this company for two years and everyone hates your guts already... WOW how do you do it manage to get everyone to hate you that fast you must not have any friends and not get any invites anywhere huh you must of been the kid no one wanted to invite to their birthday because all you would do is criticize, I was surprised to find out you were married and had kids WOW too... That goes to show there is mercy and a women for everyone she must be some women to put up with your dumb ass let me guess she sits in the back seat when you drive LMFAO... Your garbage and so is your tech skills (which you have none)... Thank you

You try to do too much. This is the third time in a row that you've ordered the wrong device or software when all you have to do is delegate that to me. Also, time is money. In your effort to save money by doing projects like running cable by yourself, you tie up the time of your staff and yourself because issues that need to be taken care of aren't. Stop kowtowing to the rest of management. Just because they say something should be done on a certain date, it doesn't mean it can. Just because they say something should be done it doesn't mean it can.

for the employees, Ask urself... - how many times would you give correct time estimate? - How much time you would actually work if the boss is not around? - Why do you get alert when boss pass by? - How many times you have given true reason for a leave? Accountability is lot higher then at mid and bottom of the hierarchy.

I'm tired of feeling unappreciated and working in a constant state of limbo. All the inter-company changes are very confusing and not being told what's happening is causing me to feel unappreciated.

For 10 years I worked as a world-wide "district tech". Most of the time it was to go in and assist where problems existed with the installations. From time to time it would be to fill in while a site manager or a group supervisor was missing (fired, quit, on vacation, etc.) A month in on my first assignment in this "supervisor" capacity I found myself with a whole new respect for those that did this day in and day out. I will freely admit that when I received assignments after that, there was a sigh of relief whenever the job sheet read "tech" in "position to assist". Thank you to all the bosses out there that take the heat from both sides and still continue to forge ahead without passing it on to those that are doing the work.

Thank you for defending me against the higher ups who don't know what THEY are doing! At a previous job, a regional manager, who did not fully understand the situation we were in, came down pretty hard on a group of us, and quite nearly fired a few of us. It was my supervisor who put herself in the line of fire to defend us. Realize that all bosses, even the worst ones, have to deal with flak from higher ups daily. All but the lowest of the low bear much of that pressure themselves, without transferring it to those under them. I think everyone should be a supervisor for a short while (I was for 4 months before stepping down) to understand the quadrupling of the workload that comes with the minor increase in pay.

1) You already have another job lined up. 2) You are confident you can get one quickly. 3) You are the sort of naive eejit who thinks your boss might be swayed by your opinion. Which one, of options one or two is most likely is entirely dependant on your situation... If you are expecting much out of option three, perhaps I can interest in you in this bridge?

a 'yes' or 'no' question. I don't even want a 1500 word answer that doesn't contain the word 'yes' or 'no' in response. Matter of fact, I don't even want a 1500 word answer in response that does contain the word 'yes' or 'no'."

What would I say to my boss??? How about "Stop yanking my chain. Hire some people that know how to do the job correctly and pay them what they are worth. You can't continue to hire "cheap" labor and expect me to clean up their messes." My long time clients have begun to catch on to the scam that is being forced upon them. When someone other than their regular IT person is assigned to do an upgrade and they take twice as long and it really isn't done right, I get the call and have to play fireman and go to the site, ask the person on-site to leave and do the job right.

A one-liner just wouldn't cover it. I'd have to explain and provide examples. But just now, I'm supposed to be doing something with the boss. He wanted me back at this location at 13:30. Haven't heard from him, and no response to my calls, but his car is here. This isn't even really a good example, as it is mere absence. Wait, I have it. One line: The Stupid, it Burns!

Wouldnt it be nice to have freinds at a company that could get you the IT Managers position, even though you only have 2 years of experience and the 2 techs you have under you have 30 total years of experience in IT? Sounds about par for the course doesn't it?

- I always give the most accurate estimate I can. I once had a boss who insisted my estimate was too high and changed it.I saw the end result. It was much closer to my original estimate than to his. This despite the fact I was not the one who did the work! - I work quite well without the boss around and frequently have. - I don't. - Always.

She had started as admin assistant, but rose to become a manager. She had asked me during a review where I saw myself in 2 years, and I said, "not in your job". She asked why not, and I told her there was too much bureaucracy and paperwork. So when it came time for her to take a 3 week vacation, she made me step into her shoes. It was humbling. James

Yes, I just could not understand why in heavens name would a company make a warranty admin into an IT Manager and then have the nerve to make her the boss over someone with over 20+ years IT experience, even though her boss knows she has the people skills of a chimpanzee. Never once in four years has she said, "Good job" or invited the IT staff into a meeting. Everything was always about her, but if something went wrong, YOU DID IT. I remember times in other REAL jobs when a manager stood by their workers; NO, this manager should have been fired for the hostile working environment she created, that the company executives dismissed. She once told a DB Pro that if he did not unplug his external speakers from his PC, that it would cause the on board sound card to self destruct. No computer user ever called her for support, because she would belittle and yell at them and made them feel stupid. There was also a bogus IP inserted into a users computer configuration that sent it to look for DNS to an outside location. When I tried to reset it correctly, she yelled that she did not want it touched. I reset it the correct way, despite her stupidity. Of course when we were getting our new VM systems installed this year by outside vendors, my enterprise admin privedgles were revoked and I was setup as a local admin. I was told that we could not have full access to the system because the vendor needed to get it fully operational with out interference. As time went on, I realized she was lying to me and I told her to her face, "I do not trust you one bit". Unfortunately, I signed my death warrant, and on July 01, 2010 I was laid off. Moral of the story...if you need the job, don't say anything and scum to a rule of fear, or quit.

They pretty much leave me alone. Ask me what I need and I usually get it. They need help or have questions I usually give them more information than they ask for or can understand, ( Sorry about that). If I had a beef, I bet I could let them know what it was. My only wish sometimes is I wish I was paid more along the same lines as the other managers, on average get paid $5 more per hour than I do. But I bet I'm having way more fun than them.

of some kind of help for students . Thursday, May 05, 2005 ON POLLUTION Nobody denies the fact that mother earth is threatened by pollution more than any other time before. In fact, factories' chimneys release huge quantities of carbon dioxide into the air. This of course increases the temperature of the earth. As a result, the ice-caps in the North and South Poles will melt. If this happens, the sea-level will rise and cities on coasts will surely be flooded. This may cause the disappearance of entire countries such as Bangladesh and The Netherland _________________________________________________ Teeth Bleaching Glasgow| Invisalign Glasgow

Love is a waste of time, money, and emotion. It is a chemical reaction in the brain that leads to misery & woe. It?s not a matter of how will it end in tragedy, only when. To my immediate boss: You and I both know that I can do my job. There is no need for you to constantly put your two cents in, when honestly, your two cents aren't worth even two cents. So, and I mean this in the kindest possible way, why don't you shut the f*ck up and leave me the f*ck alone. Thanks. To the dept. head: Swaggering, stomping, screaming, yelling and throwing furniture do not make you look tough. Those actions don't show how 'strong' you are. They make you look like a spoiled two year old. You have the maturity of a fetus. It's time for you to move on.

Every human being always wants to dominate something. It may be pet animal, wife, son, etc. In the same perception, boss also wants to dominate juniors. It may be fear of loosing job as management may get negative points through juniors. This kind of bosses are not having confident in their knowledge. So whenever we suggest a good idea using our expertise where he is lacking,he always refuses as he wants to show he knows everything than junior(in the sense of job role). So we can suggest a good idea and negative aspects if that idea doesnt apply in organisation.Hence junior has to ensure that he or she is always with boss whatever comes during apply that idea.If it happens, there may be a chance for boss will loose ego and accept ideas
