silicon.com CIO50 2011: And the winner is...

Who is the CIOs' choice as the most influential tech leader in 2011?

Hampshire County Council CIO Jos Creese has been named the most influential IT chief in the UK in this year's silicon.com CIO50.

Creese has over 25 years of IT management experience and his position in this year's CIO50 list reflects both the increasing importance of local government in delivering services to the public, and also Creese's own conviction that IT should be a source of innovation and an agent of change, not just a back-office function.

silicon.com's CIO50 list - now in its fifth year - celebrates the most influential and innovative tech chiefs in the UK, from organisations both large and small, public and private.

The list is compiled from the votes of UK CIOs, who assess the performance of their peers over the last 12 months, taking into account their leadership ability, delivery and execution record, innovation and influence.

This year's CIO50 was unveiled on Wednesday 15 June at an exclusive reception attended by members of this year's CIO50, plus tech leaders who have made the list in previous years.

Joining Creese in the top 10 of this year's silicon.com CIO 50 are:

  • Paul Coby, IT director, John Lewis
  • Joe Harley, CIO, Department for Work and Pensions
  • Darrell Stein, director of IT and Logistics, Marks & Spencer
  • Ailsa Beaton, director of information and CIO, Metropolitan Police Service
  • Dylan Roberts, chief officer (ICT), Leeds City Council
  • Rob Fraser, IT director, Sainsbury's
  • Pete Connor, group IS director, Home Retail Group
  • Simon Post, group operations director, Best Buy Europe
