Read my answer to a TechRepublic member’s question about profile issues in LibreOffice 3.5, and post your suggested solution to this problem in the discussion.
Q: LibreOffice 3.5 won’t display recent files and some wizards are erroring out, saying “Template already exists.” How can this be fixed?
A: If you’ve made the switch from LibreOffice 3.4 to 3.5, you’ve noticed a couple of issues. One issue is an error regarding profiles; this is happening because the new LibreOffice files its configuration information in a different location.
Since pre-3.5 LibreOffice stored its information in a different location, we need to do the following to resolve this issue (I’ll demonstrate in Linux):
- Close LibreOffice.
- Open a terminal window.
- Change to the ~/.config/libreoffice/3/user directory.
- Rename the file registrymodifications.xcu to registrymodificationsOLD.xcu.
- Copy the file ~/.libreoffice/3/user/ directory/registrymodifications.xcu to ~/.config/libreoffice/3/user/.
- Change to your ~/ directory.
- Rename ~/.libreoffice to ~/.libreofficeOLD.
- Start LibreOffice.
Your LibreOffice installation should be working perfectly now.
Note: This solution is not necessary if you aren’t updating or didn’t have an earlier version of LibreOffice installed.
If you’re using Windows, the profile location did not change from LibreOffice 3.4 to 3.5. The location for this is: c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice.
