If you’re a fan of Guitar Hero and you own an XBOX 360, you can play the 5 song demo version of Guitar Hero III more than a week before the full game comes out on October 28th.

The demo includes the following songs:

  1. “Lay Down” by Priestess
  2. “The Metal” by Tenacious D
  3. “Even Flow” by Pearl Jam
  4. “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar
  5. “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by The Scorpions

The demo also includes the multiplayer option so that you can square off against a friend (as long as you have two guitars handy).

Currently, there are three ways to get the demo. If you’ve read this blog before, you probably guessed that I opted for door #3 (mainly to see if this reported hack actually worked).

  1. Buy or rent Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground — the demo is included on the game disc
  2. Buy the latest issue of the Official XBOX Magazine
  3. Download an ISO off of the internet and burn it to a CD-R or DVD-R

All you need to do is download the ISO file (this should get you pointed in the right direction) and burn it to CD-R or DVD-R using a program like DVD Decrypter (or any other ISO-burning app). Once the disc is finished, pop it into your XBOX 360, go to the Games blade and select Demos & More. The Guitar Hero III demo will show up in the list with any demos that are already downloaded to your console.

I tried the demo on the XBOX 360 we have here at the TechRepublic office and it loaded just fine. I’ll have to wait until I get home this evening to get my rock on with the actual GH guitar.

[UPDATE: 10/22/2007] GameSpot is reporting that the official Guitar Hero III demo will be released to the XBOX Live Marketplace on Tuesday, October 23, 2007.
