The comic book crowd has had a busy summer. From the lineup of comic book-inspired films — Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and the $400 million+ box office hit The Dark Knight — to the impressive turnout at Comic-Con 2008. (One fan decided to enter news-of-the-weird territory: A 20-year-old from Michigan dressed as The Joker reportedly tried to steal The Dark Knight merchandise from a movie theater.)
Comic-Con 2008 was held July 24 - July 27 in San Diego, CA, and hosted more than 100,000 fans and creators of comic books, anime, sci/fi TV shows and movies, video games, and related fields. Check out the TechRepublic gallery Comic-Con 2008 photos: See fans in all their geeky glory.
Be sure to let us know in the discussion which photos are your favorites, and any photos that we (gulp) misidentified. Also, we were stumped by a few of the costumes, so earn some additional geeky stripes by identifying those photos. (Another big thanks goes to TechRepublic Senior Editor Mark Kaelin for pitching in and helping me identify quite a few of the characters.)
Also, check out this video from Comic-Con 2008, in which CBS Early Show’s national correspondent Hattie Kauffman talks to stars including Hugh Jackman, Mark Wahlberg, and Jennifer Connelly.
In the meantime, a few of us TechRepublic editors are penciling in the dates for a “business trip” to Comic-Con 2009. This should give us plenty of time to get our costumes ready.
