A few weeks ago, when I blogged at length about my stint at the local sci-fi/fantasy convention, my buddy Paul Sisler asked "you don't LARP and you don't play dressup, but do you Filk?"
My answer was fairly neutral, in that filking was fine so long as it
didn't interfere with my gaming. I didn't think much about it, as
filking is a very, very niche dork activity. Or so I thought, but now that Wired magazine has outed filking—by
BoingBoinger Xeni Jardin, no less—I expect it will evolve from yet
another guarded secret of the dorkosphere into the latest 'it' trend
that faux-geeks try to emulate.
Lousy kids and their filk music.
