There is a book out there that has involuntarily ascended to the top of my reading list (once I finish Accelerando).
Rainbow's End by Vernor Vinge has been recommended by both John Scalzi (my Jedi Master) and Charles Stross (high god of my beloved singularity science fiction). That pretty much takes any choice of not reading it completely out of my hands. Not that I don't consider your opinions on books—or the RAND Corporation's, for that matter—important, but what can I say, I'm a slave to my idols.
