Now everyone can keep tabs on Technologia

Technologia, TechRepublic's unofficial official guild in the World of Warcraft, continues to grow. As the average level of the players has increased so has our participation in instanced dungeon runs. These trips into the higher-level end-game areas have increased the general overall riches of the guild membership. It has also been a heck of a lot of fun too.

But you don't have to take my word for it, now you can check the progress of our friendly little guild online at the World of Warcraft Amory Web site. It is still in beta so there may be some sluggishness in the response, but if you can wait for it you will find all kinds of juicy details about each Technologia character. Want to know what axe Bonky is wielding these days --- it is in there. Want to see what risky hybrid talent combination Elkwinkarma has been using --- that's in there too.

Elk ProfileFor the first time, you can actually get an in depth look at the various characters we have assembled in Technologia. Perhaps it may even inspire you to join us in our quest for fun in the World of Warcraft. Technologia has an open invitation out for any member of TechRepublic --- join us on the Horde side for some camaraderie and some MMORPG good times. Just send a whisper to one of the guild officers and we'll send you an invite.

Hey guys I am in Aus and find it difficult to run instances on the server I am on. What days and times do u run and do u have any oceanic players because I am looking to transfer. I am a 70 lock Necrcina

The 70's and high 60's usually run instances on Friday and/or Saturday nights probably between 8 and midnight EDT (GMT-4) -- I'll let you do the math to figure that out for your time zone. I believe (but don't hold me to it) that most if not all of our players are in the US (and maybe Canada) and mostly in the Eastern and Central time zones. If you do switch, look for Elkwinkarma, Keres, Lisettea, Dozark, or Inferious (I'm Inferious). I believe only the GM and the Rank 1 (Officers) can invite, but don't hold me to that either.

I can't wait until I can join you on instance runs. As a lvl 25, it may take a bit until I get my character (Avandia) high enough to participate. I only recently joined the guild but can say the members are very nice and are ready to help out when they can. Being new to the game I have a lot of questions but have always been afraid to ask them. I've seen on many occassions how 'noobs' are trashed for asking, but you won't find that in the Technologia guild. They have answered every question I've asked and really made me feel welcome. I highly recommend if you have the time and enjoy the game, come and join the Technologia Guild. You won't be disappointed.

Maybe that's why he likes having me around because he can pass the title off to me. If he doesn't watch out, I'll pass him by and he can have the title back!

I thought 'the noob' was your title! Really though, it's been great having both of you in the guild, and looking forward to your help with the outlands!

Now you've done it, Av. I'm gonna refer to you as "The Noob" in game for the remainder of time. LOL JK. :-D Inferious

Hey, Mark. How is that updated? Just wondering because my char (Inferious) is showing up 2 levels behind, among other things.

I was wondering if there were any updates on the Draenei Warrior? I believe his name was Leakramwink, not 100% though.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Draenei are alliance and we're a horde guild. Is that someone's ally alt? Sounds like an Elkwinkarma alt to me... :-)

If you do a search on the armory site (armory.worldofwarcraft.com) for that name, it'll return a level 5 Draenei Warrior on the Duskwood server, which is our server. It appears he hasn't played that toon other than perhaps the first day.

There was a post about a Draenei Warrior as part of the BC review. A Blood Elf and a Draenei were made. I was kinda looking forward to the development of warrior. I haven't seen anything else about it though.

Apparently, it doesn't like my version of Flash. The Technologia page doesn't load as a result.

I don't think any pseudo flash installs work with it yet, either...so...you're stuck with crappy Adobe stuff.

I guess I'm "stuck" with not bothering to visit the site.

I would hope this system would update in almost real time. But remember it is in beta so any updating may be sporadic right now.

I'm at work and the pesky firewall wont let me on wow.com, hooray for content filters. Anyway, what server is Technologia on? Im primarily alliance but I'll give the horde a shot. Everyone should experience a Battleground win at sometime anyway....

We're on Duskwood. You can contact anyone who's Rank 1, Rank 2 (I believe), or the Guild Master on this list: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/?#guild-info.xml?r=Duskwood&n=Technologia&p=1 Or you can contact me (Inferious) and I'll let you know who's on who can invite. Horde is fun. I also started on Alliance -- and have 2-4 characters (depending on how you count them) that I play regularly. I split my time just about 50-50 between Alliance and Horde. Anyone feel free to correct me on who he can contact.

I read a little more around the site. Apparently, it's "automatic" but could take "up to 24 hours". So it'll never be up-to-date, unless they make it real-time, which I don't understand why they don't since they have all your data on their servers anyway.

It's probably because of server load and database format issues that it's not just directly linked to the same database. I'm sure you wouldn't want all data access in the game to grind to a halt because of additional server load from the Armory website. Realtime updates of something like this without sharing the database is possible, too -- with small enough databases. Since WoW boasts millions of players, however, "small enough" isn't a word I'd use to describe the likely size of the WoW databases. It's also worth noting that WoW is split up across servers in a modular fashion. The website is a unified interface. Pulling all that together takes time.
