Anybody out there a science fiction and horror fan? If so, it is your civic...er, geekish duty to subscribe to APEX Digest, an up-and-comer of a quarterly magazine featuring the underserved niche of sci-fi horror. I've met APEX's head honcho, Jason Sizemore, who runs this entrepreneurial enterprise out of nearby Lexington, KY. APEX is less than a year old but has already scored stories from Ben Bova, Steven Savile and Poppy Z. Brite, and Jason is doing all the right things to make APEX a real, respectable, viable magazine in brutal marketplace.
No, they're never published my stuff. I've never submitted there. I just know Jason from his work at ConGlomeration, where he and his staff ran the writers workshop. He's just a nice guy doing good work. And he needs your help:
If I fail to get Apex #7 out to the distributors and subscribers, the
story ends. I've begged and borrowed as much as I can. Now I'm
dropping my pride and admitting that I need help publicly. I need 200 new subscribers to create the revenue required to pay off the debt to the printer. Tell me how my story ends. Think of this as one of those "choose your own adventures." Do you buy a subscription?
I've already ordered my subscription. I encourage all of you to do the same. Tell 'em The Trivia Geek sent ya!
Jay Garmon has a vast and terrifying knowledge of all things obscure, obtuse, and irrelevant. One day, he hopes to write science fiction, but for now he'll settle for something stranger — amusing and abusing IT pros. Read his full profile. You can also follow him on his personal blog.
