T-shirt: 'No, I will not fix your computer'

I will not fix your computer - shirtCourtesy of ThinkGeek, we give you a cotton-fiber ward against those coworkers who assume that your tech support duties include working on their personal home computers free of charge, immediately. Also, it's a great way to come off as cynical and disaffected without mustering the energy to scowl. For those of you in strict dress code offices, just wear this under your button-down and bust it open Clark-Kent-to-Superman style when somebody asks for undeserved assistance. The shirts are actually marked for clearance right now, so act quick before your slogan goes out of stock.

. The T-Shirt should read: YES! I WILL GLADLY fix your computer for $100.00! How many computers can you fix in a week and how much will the C-Notes change your life forever?

The best shirt I have in this vein is a very simple message, which reads; Sorry if I looked interested. I'm Not. :P

Don't know who originated the idea, but Sun ran a promo for their "Inside Jack" advertising series a year or two ago, including a T-Shirt with this slogan, and the added geeky bonus of a cartoon on the back and the logo of a company your average computer user know nothing about. . . :-) Guaranteed to generate comments of one kind or another.

Was bought this by a well meaning family member keen to help my sanity - in the UK one can get it via play.com

I was once asked to help a fellow worker with a home printer problems. She had already had a "Geek Squad" come to her home without results. She and her family had decided to just give up printing. I offered to help and was able to resolve the problem in about 30 minutes. They had been dealing with the issue for about a month. The incredible thing was how I felt afterwards. I decided this was what "it" is all about. "Find something that you are good at and use the skill to help someone else without expectation of payment or award." The secret of life is making a positive difference in someone's life. You can still be selective as to when you want to experience this benifit, but I would suggest that you do not give up this opportunity completely.

This is good, but people will just laugh politely before they ask anyway. I have found that writing the same thing on your forehead in stick letters, mixing up capital and small letters (and making the "e" backwards) usually works pretty well. Try it, though, with your eyes open just a little wider than usual. No one will ask you anything.

if you would have left out the side comment and simply typed N/T in the "Body of reply" that would be/have been a LOT more EFFECTIVE...... Edited to fix a syntax error in one of the smilies... I hate making typos...... :|

I've done this type of thing several times, but sometimes once has to be reasonable, too...don't let your family life suffer, etc.

You are so correct in what you can recieve by helping others if you only learn to recognise it. Giving can be the gift that keeps on giving ...in a POSITIVE way. ;)

Usually all it takes is to let them know what the overtime rates are and a statement that I'm OFF work. In a few cases with close friends(not relatives) I will volunteer my services, but they would never think of asking.

Considering these things only cost about $6-7 dollars to make, they are still making a bundle off of these....especially when it is only a single color print. Holy cow...what was the regular price--$20?. I like the shirts, but just a cheap plug to move overpriced shirts in my opinion.
