Okay, so here's the multi-layered irony of this week's Geek shirt: The very people who are most likely to get the joke are also the least likely people ever to actually be exposed to sunlight.

A day without fusion - shirtOkay, so here's the multi-layered irony of this week's Geek shirt: The very people who are most likely to get the joke are also the least likely people ever to actually be exposed to sunlight. Though, if there's any hope left for public education, at least some portion of the mundane world will at least get the joke, if not pick up on the various subtexts of geek vs. jock commentary wrapped within the rays of its cutesy cartoon sun.

True, many geeks are much more likely to prefer direct exposure to nuclear fusion — or, perhaps, large hadron collisions — than forced time in the world Away From Keyboard. That's no excuse for not celebrating good science.
