Table-sized classic Nintendo controller... that works

What could be better than a custom-designed coffee table that looks exactly like a classic Nintendo controller? A coffee table that actually IS a giant classic Nintendo controller. The kind that can play Super Mario Brothers 3, as illustrated in this video.

One of the first things I did to make the controller more reliable was to replace the switches with microswitches. The original used a printed circuit trace with a small spring steel dome overlayed with a clear plastic adheasive sheet. The domes would move around, shorting out or not making any contact. Removing the plastic sheet and drilling small holes through the board and super glueing the micro switches in place solved the problem and even provided some clicking action feedback adding to a better feel. Cheap and simple made it more reliable. And it all fit inside the orignal case.
