Found via Engadget: The LandWalker, a real-world functional battlemech. It's 11 feet tall, weighs over a ton, and is armed with sidemounted airguns capable of spraying your enemies with sponge bullets, who will flee in terror at your Gundam-esque fury. (Well, stroll away in terror, as the Land Walker has a maximum speed of less than 1 mile per hour.) You can't put a price on that kind of fun. Oh, wait, yes you can, as inventor Masaaki Nagumo is selling the Land Walker for a paltry 36 million yen (around $300,000). Now, where did I put that lotto ticket...

Very cool. Now if it could walk up stairs and travel faster, (and I won te lottery), I would find many uses for it. How bout cat hunts??? scare bill collectors, and many, many other uses.

Too bad about the slow speed tho... Aside from that, I could make good use of that thing...

What happens when a profoundly geeky geek has too much time and money. Land Walker! On the other hand, consider how much more valid this is than the "Not-Art" (designed by a clerk and executed by secretary, or something like that) that sold for a $250K precisely because it defied the artistic elite. I mean at least this project has a lot behind it. I see it as art. Just don't push on it sideways when he's making a turn! How long did this guy work on his project and how much did he invest?
