Sure there were real-time strategy (RTS) games before there was StarCraft, but they didn't put all the pieces together like the way Blizzard did. Here we are over 10 years after its initial release, and StarCraft is still the RTS by which all others are measured. Taking into account some parts of the gaming world, StarCraft is arguably the most popular gaming franchise around.
Now StarCraft II is about to hit the retail shelves, and there is a great amount of interest and anticipation in the gaming world. On July 27, 2010, we will find out if all the pre-release attention was hype or reality, but until then we have this television commercial, which debuted during the NBA playoffs.
