There are times when I wish I could use a device like the one in the film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" to wipe out some of my memories. But when it comes down to it, I'd probably be too chicken to use such as a device anyway.

alien weapons from District 9 - I'm not fussy, they all rocked. I know it doesn't count as a gadget based on the definition above (which was quite reasonable, I thought) but the mech suit from that film was just In. Credible. Totally awesome. I wouldn't mind the sword from Hellboy 2 that extends into a lance either, as light sabre was already taken. [edit: typo]

it's small until activated, and it lights up the area so you know who you're hitting, to make sure you cut up the correct rectum you're fighting. They'd also make nifty can openers.
