Yes, absolutely, I will date your avatar

The music video, Do you Wanna Date My Avatar?, asks a question that really has only one answer. Check it out, and get ready for Season 3 of The Guild.

Some people like reality television like Big Brother or Survivor -- I mean the parent company (CBS) thrives on the stuff. Some people like games shows like Wheel of Fortune (my father's absolute favorite show). I, on the other hand, like The Guild, written, directed, produced, and starring Felicia Day.

If you haven't seen it and have any firsthand knowledge of the MMORPG game genre, you really should take a few minutes to watch it. Seasons 1 and 2 are on available on the WatchtheGuild Web site, and Season 3 will be available on sponsored sites soon.

To help promote the cause and to give the fans a treat, the cast of The Guild made a music video that was shown exclusively to the attendees of ComicCon 2009 -- exclusively until now. The music video, "Do You Wanna Date My Avatar?", was directed by Jed Whedon and the lyrics were co-written by Day and Whedon.

If you really like the video, I encourage you to spend a few bucks to purchase it from iTunes to help finance this wonderful indie Web-episodic (Webisodic?) show.

The show is really funny. Check it out. Much better and smart than 90% of the drivel the networks spit out. I don't know why they don't pick up the series. There is nothing better than a really cute nerd! She rocks!

But the guy in the Red & Blue made me think of Tim Brooke Taylor from the Goodies wearing his Union Jack Wast Coat and that was what got me terrified. Col

And. Question. That thing's ate up with sexual innuendo, in relatively blatant, video style. How is it that doesn't break the rules?

Thanks for making me laugh and cringe at the same time sir! I know some people that are so invloved with their online worlds, I am sure they aren't really rational about it anymore.

Felicia had a number of offers for the series, she went with XBox Live to maintain creative control of her show. Obviously she made the right choice because she hit number one at both Amazon and iTunes this week.

At a con couple of years back my son dragged me to a booth to meet the creators of Red versus Blue, a Halo webisodic. They were very funny and generous with my son. James

I guess it depends on how you look at it. They are all in game phrases we use all the time so the meaning is double - which I take as humor.

how is it any different than the avid sports fan, the frothing music fan, the extreme movie fan, or the insane religious nut? The online world is no different than the real world. People are the same across all walks. People aren't rational in the "real world" either, bucko.

Exactly. I'm not the only one who will see it that way. Just sayin'.

No argument from me in any of those areas about rationality; but, I've not seen the type of behavior where people with those interests actively try and form "relationships" with other participants. And that induced the cringe factor.

First time I've ever seen any of that and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Well as far as Sexual Innuendo goes anyway. It did however make me think of Timmy from the Goodies wanting to participate in the worst depravity of them all Mixed Dancing and longing after Libby Neutron Bomb. :-& Even looked as if it had overdosed on Brylcream so I was trying to hid under my chair till it finished. :8} OK so from that prospective it was horrible but I didn't notice anything else that is Offensive. Other than it made the cheap nasty speakers in the NB sound good. :p Col 0:-)
