I’ll be at Interop Las Vegas 2008 this week along with about 18,000 other professionals in the IT industry. This show keeps getting bigger every year. This year, there will be about 500 vendors exhibiting their products — which is up from about 450 in 2007 and 350 in 2006.
Hear what’s new, what’s hot, and what to expect at Interop Las Vegas 2008 in this interview with Lenny Heymann, general manager of Interop, as part of the Tech Sanity Check podcast.
According to Heymann, some of the hot topics at Interop will be:
- 802.11n
- Network Access Control
- Virtualization
- Mobile business computing
- Utility computing
- Software as a Service
- Green IT
The other major topic, of course, will be the state of the U.S. economy and its effect on IT. Heymann has some strong feelings about that:
“The fact is that IT pros are experts at doing more with less, and belt-tightening is a way of life… Businesses can ill afford to sharply cut back on technology investments. And unlike the last economic downturn when technology got a black eye for helping to fuel the dotcom bubble, this time around I think we’re going to see that technology innovation is one of the things that helps get the economy going again.”
