Video: Google's live demo of Android 3.0 Honeycomb at CES

Takeaway: At CES on Thursday, Google provided a 10-minute live demo of Android 3.0 Honeycomb in action, running on the Motorola Xoom tablet. TechRepublic’s Jason Hiner shot this video of the demo.

Google made a surprise appearance at Verizon’s CES 2011 keynote on Thursday, and it turned out to be the hit of the event. Google provided a 10-minute live demo of Android 3.0 Honeycomb in action, running on the Motorola Xoom tablet.

I was sitting in the front row at the event and took this video clip of nearly the entire demo. It cuts off just 30 seconds before the demo ended, but the only thing missing is a brief video call over GoogleTalk and an abrupt closing.

Today’s show-and-tell was a much longer, more in-depth, and more impromptu demo than the 93-second video that Google released on YouTube yesterday. Google actually explains the UI, talks about some of its design decisions, shows how to navigate the tablet interface, and shows off a few of the new tablet-optimized apps.
