At the Worldwide Developers Conference for Apple developers, Steve Jobs talked about the opportunity for developers to write software for the iPhone, as you can see in this clip. Jobs said, “We’ve got an innovative new way to create applications for mobile devices — really innovative — and it’s all based on the fact that iPhone has the full Safari engine inside it… You can right amazing Web 2.0 and AJAX apps.”
In essence, Apple is not releasing a software development kit (SDK) for the iPhone. It is releasing Safari for Windows and counting on programmers to do all of their iPhone apps as Web apps.
