It's often said that Microsoft SharePoint as a platform isn't bad -- it's the implementation that's the problem. SharePoint's reputation for poor implementations is certainly open for the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based Huddle collaboration platform to exploit in gaining new customers. Here are three typical SharePoint collaboration scenarios and how Huddle might compete to unseat SharePoint.
1: SharePoint suffers from false starts and spotty organizational adoption
A common scenario is where SharePoint is in place and suffering from false starts and spotty organizational adoption. Project teams have given up on it. The organization is no longer getting a return on their SharePoint investment. Here is how Huddle and SharePoint compete in that scenario (Figure A). Figure AClick the images to enlarge.
2: SharePoint is in place, augmented with third-party applications and is integral to business processes
There are enterprises that extend SharePoint using third-party and custom developed applications to run business processes. This scenario is a bit more difficult for Huddle to compete against SharePoint (Figure B). Figure BClick the image to enlarge.
3: Organizations that have gone to Bring Your Own Cloud with no set platform standards
Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) is becoming an increasingly popular option for collaboration platforms and an ideal situation for Huddle to challenge SharePoint (Figure C). Figure CClick the image to enlarge.
Final verdict
Huddle offers a compelling proposition for enterprises seeking a SharePoint alternative with lower platform management overhead.
