HP's Secure Print Advantage ensures that printed documents reach the right person and also protects against malware on the print network.
"[Secure Print Advantage] allows customers to look at print and imaging infrastructure and be able to set and ensure a security policy," said Gary Lefkowitz, director of marketing and operations at HP.
With network and IP printing becoming a standard across all organizations, printers form a possible gateway into the corporate network system. How bad can that be? Well, as bad as having all your print jobs copied to a server in Russia, as the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command discovered (iTwire).
The HP solution uses a mix of several industry standards and provides enhanced protection by detecting malware in print jobs. The product will be available in February next year.
