Microsoft bolsters Unified Communications service with Parlano acquisition

Chicago-based Parlano, the maker of MindAlign group chat software, will be acquired by Microsoft. This adds more steam to Microsoft's plan for a complete Unified Communications solution.

A quote from ZDNet:

MindAlign allows secure instant message among groups and has enterprise customers across several industries. The acquisition isn't a big surprise. Parlano has been a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, and already integrates with the the company's Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 and Office Communications Server 2007.

Enterprise-wide unified communications solutions are witnessing the likes of Cisco, IBM, and Microsoft on a collision course. Incorporating new features that sync well with the new generation of Web 2.0 employees also seems part of the plan.
