They are using a Wi-Fi service from Autonet Mobile.

"Wireless Internet Service designed to maintain seamless connectivity within the car. The service turns the car into a WiFi hotspot, allowing multiple people to connect their own WiFi enabled computers to the internet." (Autonet Mobile)

Worldwide travellers are now well-catered for portable Wi-Fi inside (AVIS) and outside (FON) of their cars!

I'll be trying to find the nearest FONSPOT(s) next time I travel! Will you be trying AVIS, FON, or another service?

To NOT put stickers in the windows of Autonet-enabled vehicles, otherwise the poor sod driving (and renting!) it will get tail-gated wherever he/she goes, by others trying to steal the bandwidth!
