Research shows that SMEs in UK lag behind in Web usage

A study by the research organization Eurostat suggests that small businesses in the United Kingdom lag behind their counterparts in other European countries.

Being online is fundamental as the internet has placed almost unlimited information and choice in the hands of the consumer," said Chris Stening, managing director of UK Online.

"Not having a website, even a basic site which describes your business and provides contact details, is a serious omission as the first thing people do now is compare services and products online before buying.

The article also mentions a guide on how small businesses can best utilize the power offered by the Web.

Much of the Web is targeted at the consumers, but there are immense gains for businesses in the long run. As an organization grows, the advantages of the Web also multiply.

No site is better than a crap one. A really good site proves some one who knew what they were doing designed you web site. I've never not dealt with anyone because they don't have a web site, I've specifically not dealt with some who do. Don't forget the UK is a small place, some of the sites I've sen you could drive there quicker than the thing will load. :D
