Office solution: How to display the Close All command for ribbon users

Takeaway: This week, learn the solution to last week’s challenge: How to close all open files in Word 2007.

Last week, we asked you to supply the pre-ribbon command, Close All, to your ribbon users. That command isn’t on any of the tabs and many users miss it. Fortunately, the command’s still available, via the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). Here’s how to add this command to the QAT:

  1. Click the QAT dropdown and choose More Commands.
  2. From the Choose Commands From dropdown, choose Commands Not In The Ribbon.
  3. Scroll down the list until you see Close All and highlight it.
  4. Click Add and then OK.

You can use this technique to add any favorite or pre-ribbon command to the QAT for quick access. Damiross was the first to suggest this alternative. Thanks Damiross!
