Who's it for?

The Bubba 2 NAS is an outstanding solution for any small- to mid-sized business needing to share various services with employees and/or customers. Although in a larger office, it is possible the enterprise will outgrow one Bubba 2 and require additional boxes.

What problem does it solve?

The Bubba 2 solves a few, often complicated, problems. Although most offices will not be as concerned with sharing multimedia, having a print server that is as easy to set up as the Bubba 2 is well worth it. Add to this e-mail sharing, file serving, and its ability to serve as both a router, firewall, DNS, and a DHCP server, and you can see the Bubba 2 solves numerous problems.

Standout features

  • Simple installation
  • Easy management via Web interface
  • Small footprint
  • Works well in a heterogeneous environment
  • User administration
  • Quick and easy print server setup
  • Can be used either horizontally or vertically making the tiny footprint even more versatile

What's wrong?

During the setup there were some issues with Windows locating the server. A sniffer had to be deployed to locate the actual IP address of the Bubba 2. This only occurred with Windows Vista. Windows XP didn't have the problem. The only other issue you might have is the start up time of the server is fairly long. This isn't too much of an issue seeing as how the Bubba 2 will rarely have to be restarted.
