Perhaps up.time is not the cheapest toolset to buy...compared to freeware-ish low end tools...but as with most SW tools these days you get what you pay for. The metrics for capacity planning UNIX platforms for example (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX) etc are incredibly granular...and rival anything that companies like HP, IBM or CA offer in their Patrol/Tivoli frameworks...with two huge differences...up.time is actually user-friendly and compared to the high-end tools is 80-90% cheaper...so in my mind this is a great alternative for users that want the power of the expensive frameworks...at a fraction of the price and without the painful process of deployment and management...after all ...a systems management tool is supposed to make your life easier...Way to go uptime software !
