With Windows Phone 7 getting closer, the big question is, “which mobile development platform will be in third place?” Android and iOS are the big players right now, with Microsoft, RIM, and Palm either losing steam or being out of the running entirely.

Developers, do you think you need a legitimate third major option to target your applications against? Or do you think that fewer choices would be better for you due to fewer cross-platform concerns?
