Poll: How do you collaborate with other developers?

Takeaway: Do you use screensharing, static screenshots, or opt for in-person collaboration when you work with other developers? Answer the poll.

I have been spending a lot of time lately working with other developers using screenshares in a form of remote paired programming. I find a ton of value in it, and in some ways, it is better than in-person because they can see it on their screen instead of having to look over my shoulder. When you work with other developers to solve a problem, how do you do it?

It all depends on you personal goals and interests.

If you want to be involved in exciting and worthwhile projects, you will cooperate with your fellow developers, of course.

If you develop to pay your bills and mortgage, you will, willy-nilly, race with your fellow developers in a ratlike manner.

In my experience I have found that cooperating with other developers has opened many great opportunities. I don't view other developers as competition. I view them as like minded creative professionals, who help make my industry a great place to be. I have gotten involved in many exciting and worthwhile projects, that I would have never been involved in if I had not networked with other developers.

How many times have you gotten help with some strange scenario from a forum with other developers? We each have our strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to all of you for being developers.

Once logged in, adding contacts is simple. Just mouse over any member's photo or click any member's name then click the "Follow" button. You can easily manage your contacts within your account contacts page.
