In this month's app roundup, I'll cover three apps that I've found very useful. The first is a chat application used for business, the second is an e-commerce app with deep bricks-and-mortar integration, and the third is a remote desktop management tool.
Comm100 Live Chat
I've used Comm100's free services in the past, particularly their free live chat service. For many organizations, having live chat available as an outreach mechanism is a critical customer service. Comm100 creates free products that include Live Chat, help desk, e-mail marketing, and a bunch more. As I mentioned, I've used the company's live chat service in the past and found it very serviceable for the needs we had at the time. After configuring the chat service on the Comm100 servers, you are provided with HTML code that you can simply drop on a web page to enable the live chat service.Comm100 has also released clients for various mobile platforms, such as iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, and other Java-based platforms. With the mobile client, you can look at all current visitors (Figure A) and interact with the ones who want to chat with you -- without having to worry about being tethered to a PC (Figure B).
