Infographic: Apple rules U.S. smartphone market

Takeaway: Smartphone sales during Q1 2012 in the Unites States reveal the popularity of Apple’s iPhone.

According to an infographic by The Guardian, Enders Analysis, which was published on Statista, the U.S. smartphone sales by carrier in Q1 2012 show Apple’s iPhone ahead of the rest of the pack.

Understanding....

Well, the Graph Title, the Takeaway and the first sentence of the text CLEARLY says its Q1 Sales so it is not a case of bad writing, but bad reading.
Market wise, once again the Text Title is perfect, showing who is Ruling the market in sales and not measuring historical sales. If you ask any major brand sales director (except Apple's) how enjoyable their first quarter was, they will surelly say they are unpleased. Obviously because someone else is Rulling the market!

So you're willing to compare a Brand to a Platform...

... so long as that Platform outsells the Brand.
Samsung's sales alone apparently don't match Apple's (see chart above)
HTC's sales alone apparently don't match Apple's (see chart above)
Continue argument through all current Android OEM brands.

It does not take into account of all the phones already in use by these carriers. This graph can be very misleading. As the title read "Infographic: Apple rules U.S. smartphone market", it should read "Infographic: Apple is #1 in NEW PHONE SALE".
