Need to form a PMO? These free tools may help

Takeaway: Forming project management organization can be a daunting task, but it can be a little easier if you follow the advice of–and make use of free downloads provided by–veteran IT manager Jay Rollins.

If you’re an IT leader who has been tasked with forming a project management office in your organization, you may not know where to start. You know the process will require executive buy-in and all the organization’s projects will have to be classified and prioritized. It’s a daunting challenge, but it helps to have a senior-level IT pro who’s “been there and done that.”

In a series of blogs this week, our resident “CIO for Hire,” Jay Rollins has written about the steps you need to take in the PMO formulation process. He has included a sample PMO business case document, a sample PowerPoint presentation that may help you communicate and clarify roles and responsibilities, and much more.

Go here for a step-by-step lesson in how to form a PMO, then follow the links to the free downloads.
