Alfresco brings enterprise content management to Facebook

Alfresco claims that it created the first business application for Facebook with its enterprise content management system integration with Facebook APIs.

An excerpt from VNUnet:

“There’s a whole new generation of employees that want a new set of tools that hook into their social environments and are intuitive. As enterprises look outwards, this is a capability that will let them tap into millions of users.” said John Newton, Alfresco co-founder.

The integration is supposed to harness the advantages of social networking that is increasingly finding its place in employees’ lives. The social platforms present an opportunity for organizations to engage with their stakeholders, customers, partners, and employees (ZDNet).

Also, here’s a list of five effective Facebook widgets for business users (PC World).

Is it in the best interest of firms to try to weave their enterprise applications with the social networking fabric?
