Please join: Live analysis of Jobs keynote at Apple WWDC

On Monday, June 6 at 1:00PM EST, TechRepublic will host a live commentary and analysis on the Steve Jobs keynote at Apple WWDC 2011. Jason Hiner and Bill Detwiler will lead the real-time chat.

We're expecting significant announcements from Apple's World Wide Developers Conference this year, and TechRepublic will be covering the WWDC 2011 keynote live at 1:00PM Eastern on Monday. Head technology editor Bill Detwiler and I will be providing live analysis of all the announcements from a business, developer, and enterprise IT perspective.

Apple has already told us that CEO Steve Jobs -- who is currently on medical leave -- will be on hand to lead the event. That's a good sign that Apple has high expectations. According to Apple, WWDC 2011 will focus on three big themes:

  1. iOS 5
  2. Mac OS X "Lion"
  3. iCloud ("Apple's upcoming cloud services offering")

Join us, starting at 12:30PM Eastern on Monday. Leading up to the event, we'll discuss our expectations and predictions. During the event itself, we'll provide play-by-play of the important announcements as well as commentary and analysis of what it means for business and IT. Think of it as talk radio, but in the form of an Internet chat. You'll be able to ask us questions and interact with us during the chat. We'll even take your best comments and republish them inline with our own comments as part of the chat.

Before the event, you can enter your email address into the field on the CoverItLive unit below in order to get a reminder before the event begins. Below the CoverItLive unit, you'll find links to more information leading up to WWDC.

So, to give them credit, iCloud will address the PC as well as the Apple hegemony. You just need an iPhone with IOS 5 to drive it.

So, my last Apple product was the iTouch 2nd Generation - no iOS 5 or iCloud for me. I feel like I didn't get called for the Rapture. That's OK. I'm having more fun with my fellow non-believers - a.k.a the Android crowd. I guess I'll just let my iTouch run into the ground. I already ported my music to my Android.

As neither an Apple user or a developer, I don't plan on participating. However, I don't notice any links to the keynote itself. Is it to be carried live on the conference's linked web site?

I need the 'alert me when something significant happens' button, because this is not it. Does anyone care what Apple does? They need SJ because Pandora and Amazon, etc. are already streaming music. And (the rumors are that) iCloud is limited to Apple devices. That's just silly. Apple keeps the industry on it toes, but Apple hardware is far from ubiquitous.

Isn't it at 1PM EDT not not 1PM EST? Standard v/ Daylight Saving? And why not 10AM PDT? That's when and where it is. Old world bias. And you're not even an East Coaster!

Is it a good sign that you have to push a sick person on stage to do his thing? I think that you have a serious, fundamental problem where your whole company is based on the appearance of 1 person (or not). That's a religion. Come to think of it...

I meant, how did the TR interactive session go? Was it considered a success? Will there be more in the future?

Perhaps you'se seen this newfangled device, called an iPod? Or the iPad, maybe the iPhone? I agree that at some point they will port the service to other complanies hardware but I dont think they can be knocked for rolling it out within the brand. PS , not a fanboi

Louisville, KY, was still on Eastern Time. Eastern Time extends well in from the coast.

He is Apple. I am sorry to say. If he goes, Apple will have a tough time filling his shoes. The man can sell Ice to Eskimos....

How was the member participation? It sounds like an interesting concept over all. However, had it been a topic I was interested in, I still probably would have skipped it if I didn't have access during the chat to the material being discussed in advance or at least as it was being presented. It sounds like a book club meeting where only a couple of people have had the opportunity to read the book, and everyone else is basing their comments on what those readers' relayed.

Yeah I have some of that gear. Mostly gave it up for Pandora on a Blackberry. It's far from cute, but it is great for the gym. Of course its their prerogative to roll it out in the brand, I just think they should be trying for world domination.
