Yes, you can file this one in the "tooting your own horn" folder, but I'm happy to share that on Wednesday TechRepublic was named the winner five 2010 Digital Azbee awards, including an Honorable Mention for B2B Website of the Year.
The American Society of Business Publication Editors handed out awards in 27 categories for web sites and online publications that serve business professionals. The ASBPE named gold, silver, and bronze winners in each category and named the B2B Website of the Year plus three Honorable Mentions for the top award.
This was the second annual Digital Azbee competition and for the second year in a row TechRepublic was one of top winners with five awards. Here's what we won:
- B2B Website of the Year: Honorable Mention
- Blog Analysis/Commentary: Gold for Career Management
- Video Step-by-Step/How To: Gold for Delete Flash cookies to protect online privacy (from TR Dojo)
- E-Newsletter General Excellence: Silver for 10 Things newsletter
- Integrated Social Media Community: Gold
Naturally, we are thrilled that the Azbees have recognized TechRepublic as a top quality destination. It was the second straight year we received an Honorable Mention for B2B Website of the Year. It's also interesting to note that we received awards for our e-newsletter, blog, and video offerings -- three very different categories -- which is a testament to what a great editorial staff we have because it's the same small team of TechRepublic editors that puts all of this stuff together. I tip my hat to them and I'm glad to see them get the industry recognition that they deserve.
But, the thing we're most proud of is winning the gold award for "Integrated Social Media Community," because at its heart, TechRepublic has always been a peer-to-peer community that is about IT professionals helping each other do one of the toughest jobs on the planet. Our editorial team simply serves as a catalyst and an organizer. So, thanks to all of you who are part of the TechRepublic Community. We share this last award with you. We should go cut some virtual cake or something.
