Join us for a Community Event in Louisville to celebrate TechRepublic's 10th anniversary

TechRepublic's Community Event will take place in Louisville, KY, on June 26, 2009. We hope our members will come help us celebrate TechRepublic's 10-year anniversary. Find out more about the event and other places of interest while you're in town.

Since 2009 is the 10-year anniversary of TechRepublic's launch in May of 1999, we'd like invite our loyal community members to Louisville, Kentucky (where TechRepublic launched as a startup), to help us celebrate! This TechRepublic Community Event will take place on Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Northeast Louisville (details listed below) from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, along with other informal gatherings on Friday night and Saturday.

Ever since we first announced this event in TR Out Loud a couple weeks ago, many of you have been asking great questions about what's going to happen at the event and what else there is to do in Louisville while they're in town - places to stay, good restaurants, attractions, and other places of interest. So, we're going to answer those questions in this post. If you have additional questions, please feel free to ask them in the discussion thread or send an e-mail to trol@techrepublic.com.

About the Community Event

Since this is a Community Event, it is open to all registered TechRepublic members. Aside from meeting your TR peers, you can expect to see a quick recap of TechRepublic over the past 10 years and hear a few words from the TechRepublic staff and TR members brave enough to come up to the microphone.

We'll have light refreshments, a few awards, and a special swag bag for all attendees. We realize that not everyone will be able to make it to Louisville, so we're also planning to broadcast the live event via streaming video and even offer it later as a video download on demand.

A dinner location (TBD) will be reserved for the community members who'd like to eat, mix, and mingle that evening, from approximately 6:00 to 9:30 PM. Each person will be responsible for his or her own drinks and dinner. However, the next morning, TechRepublic will pick up the tab for an optional brunch on Saturday (brunch location is TBD). A sign up sheet for brunch will be available at the Community Event.

Things to do

Sure, Louisville is known for being the home of the Kentucky Derby and where they make the Louisville Slugger baseball bats, but there is so much more than that to see and do while you're in town —especially if you've made a family trip of it and your significant other and kids want to know what they can do while you're living it up with your TR peers.
