TR Member contributions = swag We are collecting TR member submissions -- photos, original video clips, and audio files -- so that we can assemble them in a monthly community video. Our e-mail address is trol at techrepublic.com. If we don't receive enough submissions, that means there won't be a video for that particular month. However, for those of you who do contribute, we'll send you some free TR swag!

Sonja, you're one of the most valuable assets that TR has going. Just watching this Hot 5 put me in awe of the effort that you put forth to make this one of the hottest tech destinations on the web, and reminded me that I've got to try and book the time to get on down there this year to meet all these interesting people you've interviewed. I think everyone realizes that this community that exists here, you're the one who has grown it. Santee... If I fly down to Kentucky for the next TR Reunion, are you willing to truck out here from California? I've got to know if you're as imposing in real life as you are online... because... I think... she called you.. *cute*. :) (I'll undoubtedly pay for this).

In the 10 years I've been with TR, working with the community has definitely been the most rewarding thing I've done. There are quite a few IT destination sites out there, but the people who call TR "home" is what separates it from the rest and makes it special. And while I appreciate your words, I definitely can't take credit for growing the TR community. Rather, I'd like to think of myself as a TR community advocate. :D I really hope that you can make it this year, Donovan. Not only have I enjoyed working with you (and your awesome guest posts on the TR Out Loud blog), but we have a TON more stories to share with one another. ;) As for santee, he was surprisingly "normal" in real life! Toni and I were both a little worried if we'd understand him (I even had a thesaurus ready)... but it was all good.

Bo-ring! ;) Site says I'm #5, but that's only for 30 days...not that I wanted the feature spot. :D

OH Smeg was actually in the 6th spot with 333 posts so far in 2010. Hal 9000 had 666 FOREVER, so seeing OH Smeg with 333 was really weird!

HAL 9000
HAL 9000

I can not be ignored. :^0 But as I'm much nicer that that nasty HAL 9000 even being half beastly isn't in my acceptable thoughts. :p Smeggy.

that time researching and writing that 250,000 word story - over 200 hours on the Internet researching locations, US laws, US government departments, Japanese laws, martial arts, airplanes - THEN sitting down to write the story. And I figure that it'll run over 300,000 words by the time I finish the planned plot. The research is ALWAYS much less than the writing time. And all that time spent away from TR and not being as active as I could be, either. It's a good thing I like writing and find it fun, or all that time would seem like work.

deadly we need people like you to keep the bastards honest.

a fifty calibre sniper rifle, lots of ammunition, and a royal pardon for using the rifle as I felt was required. Now fear of that would certainly keep the bastards honest.

Mine got cut off at 5:07. Is this a conspiracy since I am not that active anymore? I guess I need to get over 200 posts a week again. :^0 Edit: For some reason it stopped early...listening again...

And I KNEW that interview would come back to haunt me. Soni, how about 'shout-outs' to people on their membership anniversaries? HEY, WHERE ARE THE OUTTAKES AT?

Am I really that active? Or is everyone else just slacking off? I don't even have my own working computer right now! Oi, happy birthday to Jacky Howe and dcolbert, then.

from a spreadsheet that I receive every week. I went back to the very first one of the year - and yeah, you're definitely in the top 5! Now, as to whether everyone else is just slacking... I can't answer that. It will be interesting to revisit the stats mid-year and then again at the end to see if other folks sneak up there into those spots. ;)

It is just that I'm incredulous of the reality. ;) BTW, you still do an excellent community column, despite the cutbacks. :)
