Podcast

The TR Member Spotlight shines on one of TechRepublic's biggest adrenaline junkies ever: Mike Jones, better known in the forums as Jellimonsta.

If you listened to TROLOV on August 8th, you learned that Jellimonsta has a lot of hobbies outside of computers, such as:

 • sports -- off-road mountain biking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, skydiving, hiking, kayaking, hiking, white-water rafting, and rock climbing
 • music -- he sings in a rock band, plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums
 • art -- drawing and painting
 • leisure -- spending time with his family, watching movies, watching the sunset, or looking at the stars and planets through his telescope

Well, now you have the opportunity to learn even more about Jellimonsta, including how he got involved in IT, where he sees himself in 10 years, and a gory story from the trenches.  Listen to the podcast.

but is it possible to give a synopsis of these podcasts? Don't need word for word of course! But maybe summarize the juicy bits. I TR when I'm at work and don't really have an opportunity to sit and listen. :(

with the accent. ;) We have a lot of expatriates over here. :) You live a very active life style and obviously enjoy it. You will have a two year old soon who will keep you on your toes. Keep up the exercise as you will need it. Great interview and thank you for sharing. :)

I don't know what to call you now. ;\ Our little guy is 14 months, but he is not walking yet. He is active enough crawling to his next adventure though. :D My 5 1/2 year old daughter is a big help though. :)

(asking how many kids) Enjoy the helpfulness. Sometimes it's short lived. :)

I just answered your post up above. :p

I've confused a few. ;) That is handy having a big sister to help out, the age gap is good too, no conflicts. :) Been there and done that, I have my two year old grandaughter staying here at the moment. It does get interesting at times. ;)

Until you mentioned where you hailed from I didn't detect any British accent. However once I was aware, there are certain pronunciations that hark back to Blighty. Your heritage booms out through that gruff, deep voice - well done. I was getting a bit tired of listening to all the namby-pamby American male accents. :D Great Spotlight.

Thanks OM. I guess I just look like a namby pamby American instead of sounding like one! :p ;\

I didn't think Soni would actually use one of my bands songs for intro/ outro though. :p

Didn't realize that was you. Way to go. Do post to imeem. Or send them to me and I will. I've got Sonja's on my profile. Heck, I could start a TR group and playlist! :D

And doesn't take long at all to upload your content to the imeem site either. Best thing is to make a playlist of all the music. Then we can just click on the list and it will play all the way through. I have been posting old radio dramas to my account. B-)

Not on IMeem. We have some tracks on Myspace though. myspace.com/frozenecho. I should look at posting to IMeem too. They are just demo's though. :p

It's always great to put a voice with a name! Great to hear from you, Jelli. ...interesting to hear of your art background. Man! You is a One Man Band! but... What's wrong with gator wrestlin'? :) Good job Sonja!

I would prefer to admire some wildlife from a distance. I would be up for a bull ride, or swim with sharks. But Gator's grab your arm then spin it out of the socket... no thanks!! :P :D

Ok, playin your drums and talking bout it is bad enough, but telling us about your sex-a-phone habits goes a bit too far for what we wanted to know :^0 :^0

While I'm certain that you do sound like yourself (thanks Tigs!), you don't sound like I expected. So much for expectations. You have that deep voice thing going, which is way too cool. I enjoyed hearing how you made your way to Wisconsin, and how you got into IT. Interesting, Yank. Thanks so much, both of you, for another great Member Spotlight. Keep 'em comin'!

Another grand cast. Found this at the end of the day yesterday, but didn't have time to check it out then. Very well done, and wunderbar to hear about you and the little ones!

since I can't listen to the audio, I'll be popping in with questions that obviously were answered by the cast. Sorry! Tink :)

A girl who turns 6 in September, and a boy who is 15months. :D They are a challenge, but so worth it. We get tomorrow night off though as it is our 10 year anniversary so they are going to my wife's parents for the evening. :) We get to go see Henry V at a production theater in the middle of a 110 acre wood. :)

I think I should start stockpiling non perishable food items now for the teenage years. Sound like a good plan to you? :p

The more you have, the more they "get rid of".... ;\ You just have to learn to cook larger meals, PLANNING on the left overs being their lunch the next day. Teach them to use that microwave! My favorite is when they tell me they are hungry, I reply "but, you just ate YESTERDAY! Trying to make a habit of it???" B-)

I am 'The Limey' here, and 'The Yank' back in the UK. :) That's OK with me though. :p
