Welcome to the launch of TR Out Loud! We’ve developed this podcast especially for our “hardcore” members, as well as those who’d like to join that cool kids’ club!

This first show was recorded Thursday, February 7, and runs a little over 10 minutes. It features a list of top discussion threads and top posters for the week. You may notice that the top five threads aren’t really very active… that’s because I screwed up the data. (I stayed out a bit too late on Wednesday night. What do you want from me? Perfection?) Nevertheless, we had such fun recording it that we just had to go ahead and share it with you! Listen to the podcast.

Next week’s edition is your chance to get involved! Provide a short answer to the Question of the Week: What is your most creative use of technology?

Send your answers to enews3@cnet.com. Be brief, please! If we use your answer in next week’s show, you’ll get some TR schwag! (T-shirts, mugs, etc.)

Also, feel free to provide feedback in this blog's discussion. Perhaps you have suggestions for improving the show, features you’d like to hear, or maybe you just want to make fun of my Southern accent!

And now… On with the show!

that didn't find a link to the podcast?

If you checked the link to the original article above, did you see a white (or slightly pink) space below the header? That is where the player is supposed to be. Palmetto had trouble with it, and when I tried it in IE it wasn't there at all. No problems with a Mozilla browser. This may help: http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/tr/downloads/home/TROL_Feb_8_2008.mp3

I appreciate the link but I was hoping for something I could plug into Juice so I can get them automatically.

Drop a line to TR and let them know that you like the feature and want to be able to subscribe. This helps two ways- it will let TR know that this is desired content and it will validate adding it to an existing newsletter or the RSS stream.

there is actually a Plugd media player you're missing in the page. I have no idea how that would work with this Juice. Does subscribing via RSS or something in the upper right over the pick-a-blog combobox help?

It's an flv player hosted by Plugd for the mp3. The "joy" of Plugd is the ability to search within an audio file. I have no idea what the deal is with IE, as I only tried it so I could download the file rather than play it embedded. SeaMonkey kept trying to use the quicktime plug-in, even though mp3 isn't even listed for the plug-in, all audio files are supposed to give me the option for download, and I specifically created a specific type for mp3 as /forcedownload. Whatever. After allowing Plugd I could play the file embedded had I so wanted. (I got properties for the blank space or looked at the source to find out there was a Plugd player there.) For the download, IE would get a 404 first, I would reload, and then I got a dnld dialogue.
